I got through the two “New Tricks” episodes and finished the seventh homework swatch as midnight came and went. Then I was off to bed where I remained until eight this morning. When I got in the shower today I discovered the bruising had spread on down the inside of my ankle. Overall I think the knee is doing better although there must still be some swelling since it feels tight in the knee. Barbara told me I probably want to leave my mini skirt at home when we go to Madrona. Funny lady…
I had a hankering for a fried egg this morning. Bill cooked (burned would be more accurate) some cheese brats and then I cooked the eggs. He can’t cook them 'over easy' and I don’t like hard cooked yolks. That’s fine for a boiled egg but I want a runny yolk on my fried egg! Picky, picky… We finished off the last two croissants with the eggs and brats and the meal hit the spot.
Bill was watching “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” this afternoon. They sang one of my favorites, “I’ll Fly Away.” In another place someone sang “I’ll be Somewhere a-Listening” which is a song I grew up on in the Southern Baptist Church. I knit the last homework swatch. I looked on Ravelry for a bit and saw some folks on the Madrona forum grumbling about the homework. The main comment was that they would rather be knitting something to wear than swatches. I’m sure most anyone would prefer that but I’ve been in classes where we (or the teacher) had to knit something that could have been done beforehand and not eaten up class time. As always, there are two sides to every coin.
I got a good laugh today. I realized that Grace didn’t know about my ‘accident’ so I told her in response to her email, along with my theory that the devil didn’t want me to go see Kathy. She wrote back and said, “I can't believe it. On my fridge I have this BE THE KIND OF WOMAN THAT WHEN YOUR FEET HIT THE FLOOR EACH MORNING THE DEVIL SAYS: ‘OH CRAP SHE'S UP!’ It fits you, dear friend, perfectly. You are always there.... If I were ready to pop off I would consider it a blessing if my dear friend Carol was there to spur me on.” Grace is such a sweetie and her English expressions like “pop off” are a hoot.
I started another One Evening Hat today while listening to Ruth Rendell’s “End in Tears.” I downloaded it from the library for Barbara’s MP3 and she has been listening to it. Now I’m listening to it was well. However, I want to watch “The Note II” tonight even though I’m not expecting it to be all that great from what my sister said. But she likes things I don’t and vice versa soooo…
If God has made this world so fair,
Where sin and death abound,
How beautiful beyond compare,
Will Paradise be found.
