The day for our first Fiber Friends finally arrived. I was up at seven and Bill dropped me off at church about 9:15. I took all the knitting stuff into the foyer and set it aside until after Bible Study. We only had six of the 14 ladies from our group there today. It seems that Eleanor fell and broke a couple of ribs since I talked to her daughter Glory on Sunday (or was it Monday?).

We finished up Bible Study right at 11:30 we could set up for Fiber Friends and so the ladies from Bible Study who were staying could have a bit of lunch. We had 14 ladies from church plus my friends Ellie, Jackie, Nadine and Susie (all from my Ellie “do” group). I introduced everyone and then talked a little about the guidelines for our charity knitting. Those who didn’t have yarn took from the Fiber Friends stash (that I’ve been winding for several days). Nine ladies partook of that. The rest came with their own. Connie took three of the ladies who wanted to learn how to knit to her table – Mary L, Rose and Bev. Bev is the lady I helped crochet a hat awhile back. Bev gave it the old college try but decided she would stick to crocheting. I had hat patterns for both venues.
At that point everyone was knitting so I went around and showed them my tip for joining the yarn after the cast on and what to do if you run out of yarn on a long tail cast on. We were eventually joined by three crocheters. One of them was putting fringe on a bunch of baby blankets and one was designing a vest as she crocheted. Some ladies had to leave early and some came late but I think a good time was had by all.
We broke up at three. I went over to Debi’s classroom to give her some wooden needles from the stash of stuff Deanna gave me from Roberta’s estate. I let everyone go through the rest of the stuff today and take what they wanted. I’ll give what’s left to the Angel Guild in Key Center.
Since Nadine was there I rode home with her, or rather I drove her car and took her to the post office before going to my house. I unloaded my stuff and bid her farewell until Friday when we go to Sew Expo. Since I got home I updated the Fiber Friends roster and worked on the March newsletter.
I’m waiting to hear from Debi about meeting early tomorrow night (before rehearsal) so I can show her how to knit a top down baby sweater for her nephew, I think it is. Deanna called to make sure I got my Sew Expo ticket she mailed to me yesterday. Bill fixed baked chicken for dinner which was very yummy. I’ve lost a total of 6.6 pounds in the past nine days. Yippeeeeee…
I’m off to watch another Inspector Lynley mystery “The Seed of Cunning.” The “Hidden Places” movie I watched last night was very good and heart-warming.
