It was 16° outside and 50° inside when I got up at 7:15 this morning. I was glad that I drove to church yesterday and didn’t have to this morning! Bill dressed like he was at the North Pole to make the garbage run. By 9:30 it had warmed up two degrees and the sun was shining. We brought in the hummingbird feeder and set it in front of the heater in to thaw.
I got Linda’s Christmas box packed up last night in a large flat rate box. One item was too large for the box so I had to wrap it separately. Thank goodness I got the labels printed because when I got Doris’ box packed up today, there was NO doing the label at the post office site despite their saying all systems were working. They’ve had problems for several days now but up until today I had still managed to buy and print labels. And Peg was able to do them. I finally did it with my Shipping Assistant but that cost an extra 50 cents.
When that was done I went to the back and worked until after five tonight. I got some things partially done but nothing actually finished. Before I quit I got the lettering ready to do Reign’s name on a fleece blanket. I guess that will have to be the present for her December 28 birthday as there is no way I can get the patchwork jacket done before we go on Friday. There is a remote possibility of getting it done between the time we get back home and Christmas if I can even get started on it this week but that’s iffy. And, of course, I have to find what I did with the pattern after Nadine returned it to me. On the other hand, there is the possibility we won’t even be able to go on account of the weather. I would be real disappointed to miss Reign’s first ballet recital.

The Wavy Scarf is done at last as you can see. My next knitting project is a sweater for Balinda’s baby. Since he was born on the anniversary day of Clint’s homegoing and shares Clint’s first name (William) I need to do this for the baby regardless of what I think about the father. Obviously the baby has no control over that.
Bill put up another thermometer this afternoon. We have one outside the kitchen window on the back side of the house. The new one is on the front porch. We discovered that it is five degrees cooler in the back than in the front. This is likely due to the big ravine we have out back.
God's Wings
A little something to put things in perspective...
After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park, forest rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno's damage. One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother's wings. The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise. She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. Then the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast ...because she had been willing to die, so those under the cover of her wings would live.
'He will cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you will find refuge.' (Psalm 91:4)
Being loved this much should make a difference in your life.
Remember the One who loves you, and then be different because of it
