About 10:45 last night the computer overheated and shut off. It was then I noticed a skein of yarn had found its way in front of the opening in the back where the heat escapes. Oh well….. I finished the cuff on the first sleeve of the Kyler sweater and started the second sleeve while reading along on my book. I finally made my way to bed before I fell asleep in the chair.
I woke at 6:15 this morning. If I hadn’t had yesterday’s episode with the embroidery machine to stew over, I might have gone back to sleep for awhile. But stew I did so I got up and proceeded with my usual morning routine. I was greeted by the lovely weather report of “Calm before the next storm…” We had a fair amount of wind yesterday and another windstorm is supposed to blow in sometime tonight. Oh joy! Hopefully it will taper off so that we can continue with our plans for New Year’s Eve day and then there is the potluck at Fancy Image Yarn on New Year’s Day. After looking at the picture of Myra’s parking lot from yesterday, I told her she better get a JUMBO snow blower!
One of the things I got in Doris’ box yesterday was a mystery to me at first. It was a pair of ”something” but it took me awhile to figure out they were slippers. When I described them to Barbara she said they are Pocket Book Slippers. Who knew? The pattern looks easy enough to make so I might try a pair in my “spare time.”
I eventually went back and lowered the sewing unit of the embroidery machine down into the cabinet and set up my little Janome sewing machine. Then I finished the 11 bibs I did over the last couple of days. Now I just have to put the snaps in them and they will be ready to go.
I called Quality Sewing and explained my plight with the machine and the screw. The plan is to take it in on Friday and it will go up to the repair center on Saturday. Then Bill can pick it up when he is in Tacoma on January 12 to see his doctor. I talked with Georgette, my salesperson, and she is going to show me the new features of the machine while I’m there.
Bill brought home some Chinese takeout this afternoon so we’ve been munching along on that. We just had some for our dinner. Now I’ll get back to the sweater. I have one inch left on the second sleeve before doing the cuff. Then I will move on to the body. I think “House” is on tonight so we’ll watch that.
