Instead of watching a movie last night I decided to go ahead and get all the mail ready to go out today. It has piled up while we’ve been snowed in. I’m sure glad I did because it took me until eleven o’clock to get it all done! I slept in until nine this morning and I was glad not to have that task staring me in the face when I got up. I went back and continued working on bibs again. I haven’t counted how many I have done so far but I have 2 bib and burpie sets done for the new baby in the family. And here she is – Paige Meagan Park born on December 13, 2008 and weighing in at 8 lbs 3 oz.

Since I got up late, the day seemed to whiz right by me. I was having problems off and on with the thread messing up and skipping stitches. I finally decided to clean out the bobbin area in case there was lint. After all, I must have a million stitches on there by now. I was replacing the screw plate when, alas and alack, the screw fell into the machine.
I couldn’t see it so there was no hope of retrieving it. I called Deanna who suggested one of the magnet rods, which I don’t have, or turning it upside down and giving it a shake. This machine is waaaaaay too heavy to do that. If I can’t find a magnet rod out here to try, I’ll have to take it in and have the repair folks get it out. Sigh…. At least I can use my little Janome sewing machine to finish the bibs that I have done that just need the middle join sewed up.
Nadine called tonight to see how I was doing. I told her my tall tale of woe. She said that her daughter Joyce went to the doctor today and has bronchitis and an ear infection. She is going for an MRI tomorrow as she is still having problems with her neck following the incident at Wal-mart several months ago when something fell from the top of a shelf and hit her.
Then I talked to Barbara who was happy to have finally made it to the post office to retrieve all her mail. I asked about Craig’s trip to Mexico. He didn’t really care for the heat. I finally asked her what she had for Christmas dinner since we weren’t able to go out as planned. She said she had a TV dinner. I guess it could have been worse. She also gave me an update on Doyle, her contractor, who has been in the hospital. He had an infection in his hip bone and had surgery on Christmas Day. You know it had to be serious for them to operate on Christmas! From what the doctor told Doyle it could easily have been fatal.
I also heard from Myra today who is back from her trip to Mexico. She sent this picture taken in front of her shop this afternoon. And it was 38° out. Hopefully it melts before our New Year’s Day “do.”

It was like Christmas here today as Bill came home with several boxes and UPS delivered another couple of boxes. The box from Doris arrived with numerous goodies including the wonderful white chocolate almond bark she sends every year. I really love that stuff. Of course, she also included a magnet which said “I’m on a 30 day diet and, so, I’ve lost at days.” Uh huh… And that is a wrap for today.
Whatever you're going through right now is important because God is weighing it in the light of your future. God doesn't measure us in terms of our present condition or comfort level. No, He has a far greater plan in mind. "God knew [us] before He made the world, and He chose [us] to be like His Son" (Romans 8:29 NCV). Imagine that! One day we will be just like Jesus; doesn't that blow your mind?
When it comes to performing the impossible, Houdini and P.T. Barnum were amateurs. Could they have parted the Red Sea, put the sun on hold for 24 hours, turned water into wine, resurrected the dead, and done it all with such style? Well, guess what? That same God is at work in your life. That's because He plans to show you off some day. Incredible as it may sound, when God gets through with you, you'll be 'something else'. - Bob Gass Ministries
