We keep waiting for some of the predicted rain to wash away the snow but when I got up at six this morning, the snow was still there! However, there was a lot more ground showing through so there is hope. As we sat here this morning I noticed a car coming up the driveway. Obviously our stretch of road was finally passable.
Last night I hunkered into Clint’s chair as we watched a movie on TV called “Miracle.” It was the true story of Herb Brooks, the player-turned-coach who led the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team to victory over the seemingly invincible Russian squad. While I’m hardly a hockey fan, it must have been an awesome moment in the stadium when the USA victory occurred. I was (finally) knitting away on the first sleeve of the Kyler sweater as I watched and I had to work at not tightening my knitting tension as they played the game against Russia!
I had a “comment” on the journal from a man who lost his daughter Jessica to meningitis on Dec 26, 2007. The sudden loss of a loved one, especially a child, points out the fragility of life and should cause us to treasure our families. And speaking of family, today was Reign’s 10th birthday. We talked to her this afternoon and sang “Happy Birthday.” Tomorrow we’ll be able to mail off her birthday box and Dawn’s towels that wouldn’t fit in the box we sent before Christmas.
I fixed crab quesadillas for breakfast. I was in the mood to make baby bibs today so headed back to work on those. Bill eventually headed off and with minimal slipping and sliding he got out to the main part of our road. He put the rest of the trash out and hopefully they will turn up tomorrow as scheduled. Barbara e’d to say that she got out today, too.
Bill is watching “Sound of Music” but I’m not one to watch a movie over and over and over again. I’ll root through all the movies my sister has sent and see what I can find to watch. I’m ready to do the cuff on the first sleeve of the Kyler sweater.
Thank You, Lord, that although we live in a world where Satan’s shadow obscures Your glorious light, we eagerly anticipate the day when Your full glory will once again illuminate all creation. Amen.
