Nadine called last night to see if I had tried to call her. I told her I hadn’t but the weird thing was that my name came up on her TV. Hmmm…. Wanda and I chatted for awhile and when she signed off I started a movie called “Life on Liberty Street.” It was a story set in a rehabilitation facility for patients with brain injuries. After I went into the bedroom at ten to turn on my electric blanket I looked out the front door and the snow had stopped. The movie finished at 11:15. It was a very touching story. The snow was still on hold when I headed for bed at midnight.
When I got up at seven this morning we did not appear to have any new snow. I got straight to work on William’s sweater and finished the ribbing. Debi called at eight and we chatted for a bit. I forgot to wish her Happy Birthday so I called her back. She was quite intrigued by the corner bookmark and FLS piano I sent her. When we were done talking I heated up the biscuits and gravy Bill brought from the deli yesterday. Then I got back to the sweater where it was time to start the first sleeve. I glanced out the window at 10:30 and discovered it was snowing again.
I knit for awhile, chatting with Peg in Colorado on Instant Messenger. She was jealous about all my snow. I would be quite happy to send it to her! I checked in on Barbara who was feeling much better since we didn’t get the wind. I talked to Nadine several times today. Sometime after noon I was hungry so I fixed some more pigs in a blanket. And it continued to snow. Carol Voss called about 2:45 and said it snowed all night at her house. She probably lives 30-45 minutes away from me. As Bill flipped through TV channels he passed the Seattle Seahawks playing football in the snow against the New York Jets.
At 3:40 my power pack blipped. I was just finishing the first sleeve on the baby sweater. The snow on the deck rail was pushing 7-8 inches and it continued to snow! As five o’clock rolled around I finally bit the bullet and put my outside boots on since I could NOT get my feet warm. And that despite the fact I was sitting four feet away from a heater blowing warm air in my direction. The rest of me was fine but the feet were freezing! And it continued to snow…..
I took a break a little before six and put dinner on to cook. Bill had thawed out some pork steaks so we found a box of sauerbraten mix which made a great gravy for the meat. After dinner I finished the last download from “Quilter’s World.” I subscribed to their digital magazine a couple of months ago but had not taken the time to figure out what you did with the magazine. Taking a closer look today I realized the current and archived magazines are all in .PDF format so all I had to do was download and save them on my computer. I did the same thing for the digital “Creative Knitting” magazines from Nov 2006 through Jan 2009. “Quilter’s World” ran from Feb 2006 through Feb 2009.
I finished William’s sweater at 8:30. Now I’ll see if I can do a hat since I still have some yarn left. So I’ll wait on showing the sweater until I have the hat. It appears the snow may have stopped for now. If anything is falling it is so small I can’t really see without going outside to explore further and I don’t want to know that badly!
At 8:45 my power pack blipped, our lights flickered and Bill heard a pop outside like a transformer. I know the snow is heavy on the trees and power lines. The lower branches on the tree outside my back window are touching the ground. So I will move along and get this posted in case we have any surprises.
