It was going on one o'clock this morning by time I got to sleep. I watched a movie called "Bella" that Linda sent to me. It was excellent. I'd heard about it but had not yet seen it. "An international soccer star is on his way to sign a multi-million dollar contract when something happens that brings his career to an abrupt end. A waitress, struggling to make it in New York City, discovers something about herself that she's unprepared for. In one irreversible moment, their lives are turned upside down...until an impetuous action brings them together and turns an ordinary day into an unforgettable experience. Once a famous athlete, and now a cook at his brother's Mexican restaurant, José has retreated from the world but he recognizes something in Nina, a young waitress, and reaches out to her. In the course of a single day, he not only confronts his past but shows her how the healing power of a family can help her embrace the future." (Written by M. Robertson)
I got up at 5:30, took my pill, turned on the heat and then crawled back into my warm cocoon until 7:15. Bill decided he would try and make a run into Key Center for mail and whatever else we needed before the BIG storms hits. He called Betty and arranged to pick her up at 10:30 since she still needed water. He later found out their pipes froze. Not good with the new baby in the house! I got all the mail done and after he left I was ready for a piece of cheese toast to quell my growling tummy.
By this time I was zipping right along with Plan 3 of William's baby sweater. I finally decided on a top down yoke pullover in a medium blue. I reached the underarms before I went to bed. I worked along on the body today as I stitched out some more things to put in Christmas cards for the music team members. I did one snowflake with the sparkly white metallic thread and it worked fine, unlike the bell I tried to do with silver metallic thread. Phooey!
Bill got back home safe and sound and I got my replacement Mighty Bright light in the mail. The light arm broke off the first one in no time at all. I've had two of them that I've used for a number of years with no problems. This one is obviously made of cheaper materials as is everything else these days. I wrote them several weeks ago and got no response. I wrote again and said how disappointed I was at their lack of response and I sent pictures of the broken one. I had a new light in two days!
Before long I looked out the window to see teeny snowflakes falling again. They continued nonstop as long as it was light enough for me see outside. I glanced out at 4:45 and could see them still falling in front of the yard light. I continued stitching and knitting until five and then shut down the computer in the back in case the power would go out. I usually leave it on all the time. When I shined the flashlight out on the deck rail it looked like about an inch of snow. What was on there before melted in the sun yesterday so we’re starting over.
I gave Bill a hard time for sending something to his brother in Hawaii and not putting the name of the town on it. I got a Christmas card back today that had no address label at all. I don’t know if they managed to peel the label off when it went through the machine at the post office or what as there was a mark right across where the label would have been. Now I’m trying to figure out who didn’t get their card. I have it narrowed down to three. I hate to have to ask people but if I don’t then someone won’t get a card. Sigh…..
I called Barbara after dinner to check on her. Seems she is just like Bill when she hears the word “wind.” She is there by herself since Craig is gone to Mexico. Well, by herself if you don’t count the two horses, her three dogs and the two dogs she is keeping for someone else. She said the one horse stands out in the snow. The snow lands on its back, melts and runs down the side and freezes so that the horse is walking around with tinkling icicles! I told her not to worry until there is something to worry about. The other thing she told me is that Julianne’s daughter, who works at The Murano Hotel where we have our Madrona knitting retreat, says the hotel has a whopping 23 rooms occupied. I don’t know if they just weren’t booked or if people couldn’t get here or events were cancelled or what but all this weather at this time of year is certainly bad for business in an already bad economy.
The homework for the Madrona Winter Retreat classes is up so I can work on that. However, one of the classes Barbara and I are taking asks us to:
1. Dress in close-fit lingerie. (You may add a bodysuit or leotard or tights, but do wear supportive lingerie.)
2. Standing straight, with arms slightly away from your side, have someone take a straight-on photo of you. (Have the photo fill the screen as much as possible.)
3. Print the photo to size 8X10 and onto plain paper.
4. Trace your outline only with a fine black pen.
5. Take your height in inches, and divide by 8. Round off only to the nearest 1/16”. (For example, if you are 5’ 5”—which is 65”—then 1/8 = 8 1/8”.) You will get the best results if you take the time to get this exact.
6. Reprint your outline to this height. (If you need, get help from a photocopying expert,) You will get the best results if you take the time to get this exact. And you may bring more than one copy of this outline. BRING YOUR “OUTLINE” TO CLASS
Yowser! I'm trying to wrap my brain around THAT picture!
I’m thinking if we knew this beforehand we would NOT have signed up for that class! I’m guessing there isn’t really a flattering style sweater for Small Shoulders with Big Butt.
That is enough for today. It is still snowing and the one inch on the deck rail is now three inches! I think I’ll look through my movies and see if I can find something to watch while I continue knitting on William’s sweater. I have six rows left to do before the bottom ribbing and then the sleeves.
Are you praying for something, but it hasn't happened? Have you waited a long time, but nothing has yet occurred? Think about all the many promises that God made to people that took many, many years to be fulfilled. Why? Because God's timing is perfect. Even though it may seem that you are being required to wait an inordinately long time to receive His answer, remember that God doesn't own a watch. He is not controlled by man's clock or man's calendar. He controls them. He is in control of what is happening in your life. And He will – or rather, HAS answered your prayer. So start praying with thanksgiving for His answer. Be joyful that He has set things in motion for it to happen. And know that the things He has promised to you, the answers to your prayers, will occur "in their proper time."
"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours." Mark 11:22-24 NIV
