I woke at 2:30 – no snow, 4:30 – no snow, and 6:30 – SNOW! I got up, put the coffee on and worked on some Christmas cards. By 9:45 it was snowing again. Bill had already called Dawn to cancel out the weekend trip. Bah humbug! Of course, if the weather is that bad – and would be worse up there than down here – the recital will probably be cancelled anyway. We packed up a box with most of the stuff for Dawn and Reign. There wasn’t room for the towel set or the fleece blanket. Hopefully we’ll be able to make a trip up there before Reign’s December 28th birthday.
I made a bag and embroidered “The Great One” on it. This is for the gag gift I got Larry H, music team leader, for Christmas – a bottle of “Over the Hill Antidote for Aging Survival Pills.” I got a design for some cute music snowflakes so I’m going to do those for the gals. I’m cogitating on bags that say “Moose Poop” for the guys.
Bill wasn’t going to the post office today so I had no labels done for the three packages to be mailed. Then he decided he would go after all so I had to scurry around getting the labels done. At least the online post office was working again. Bill took off and I heated up the leftover goulash for lunch. As I sat here eating lunch at one o’clock it was snowing and the sun was trying to peek through the clouds. Pretty soon I was blinded by the sun and had to get up and close the blinds!
Bill called and said he was at the end of the road and could go no further. A wrecking truck was smack in the middle of the road. It seems a vehicle coming down and around the S curves slid off into the ditch. People just use NO sense when driving under these conditions!
Yesterday when I was coming down those same curves I spied a truck coming uphill with an “extra wide load” sign. The lady stopped and told me to move over as much as I could. It was fortunate there was room to move over! Then came another pickup truck or two followed by half a manufactured house. The pickup truck behind that waved to me which I took to mean I was free to resume driving. However, just as I got out into the road here came the other half of the house barreling up the middle of the road and again I was forced to pull over.
I finished all the cookies for another Dear Santa Sign. I’ll send this to Mason and his brothers. I haven’t mentioned him in awhile but he is the young boy going through chemo for leukemia. Last report he was doing well for what he is going through.
My back is hurting again tonight. I have that one really weak spot right in the middle and I’m miserable when it gets out of whack. It doesn’t seem to hurt when I’m standing but it sure does when I’m sitting. I’ll move along and maybe watch a movie tonight. Oh yes, we got snow off an on during the day but it is 31° out front as I am writing at almost nine o’clock. Following are the words from another song by Lydia Leech.
God’s way is the best way, though I may not see
Why sorrows and trials oft gather ’round me;
He ever is seeking my gold to refine,
So humbly I trust Him, my Savior divine.
Refrain:
God’s way is the best way,
God’s way is the right way,
I’ll trust in Him always,
He knoweth the best.
God’s way is the best way, my path He has planned,
I’ll trust in Him always while holding His hand;
In shadows or sunshine He ever is near,
With Him for my refuge, I never need fear.
God’s way shall be my way, He knoweth the best;
And leaning upon Him, sweet, sweet is my rest,
No harm can befall me, safe, safe shall I be,
I’ll cling to Him ever, so precious is He.
