I looked outside in time to see the pit bulls running down the driveway this morning about 8:15. It’s the first time we’ve seen them in awhile but it dispelled any hopes that they had disappeared. But we don’t want them over here chasing the little deer!
I finished watching the Ruth Rendell mystery last night. Strange! To end the evening on a lighter note I watched another movie called “Dreamer.” I’m not a horse fan but it was a heartwarming movie based on somewhat of a true story about a race horse that broke its leg and lived to race again. When that was over, I made a point of reading the rest of “Hole in Juan.” When I got settled under the covers I read a few pages of a new book but it didn’t grab me and say “You can’t put me down” so it is going back to the library and I’ll go with one Deanna gave me the other day. The Carol Bayles “Thyme of Death” book hasn’t grabbed hold either so it may go back, too. I’m trying really hard to stop reading a book just because I started it. I also finished the red scarf last night and started a new hat with a different pattern stitch. The scarf picture didn’t turn out good enough to show so I’ll have to try that again.
I was ready to embroider by 9:30 this morning but I couldn’t get the design to cooperate. I wanted to do a design on the last of the 20 burp cloths. It was over two hours later before I solved the problem and got going on the stitching. Here are the last of those burp cloths.

While I was working on this Bill headed off to run errands. I asked if he was sure he was ok to drive and he assured me he was. He was gone all afternoon and when I finished the burp cloths, I located the nurse panels left from Nurse Marie’s birthday quilt and cogitated on a mini wall hanging for Linda for Christmas. I was searching my brain to remember how I did the tabbed mini hanging for Ellie last year and it took awhile, but it finally came back to me. I got borders sewed on the three blocks and cut out the backs.
I was in the middle of this when Bill returned in the middle of a downpour, one of several we had today. I helped him unload the car and got back to my project while he put stuff away. He interrupted me again for something else so I decided to quit for today and start fresh tomorrow. One of the things he brought me was the music from church for Sunday. As usual, there is a song with words, chords and no melody and it is supposed to be a new one. We’ll be meeting at 7:45 Sunday morning to rehearse and hope all goes well. The last song is in the key of E which has four sharps. Sigh…. Funny how we have certain things that fight us and sharps in music is one of my things, although I’m better with them now that I was years ago. Hopefully I’ll be able to tinkle the ivories tomorrow and run through the music before Sunday morning.
I threw caution to the wind and indulged in the goodies Bill brought home for dinner – BBQ pork ribs, baked beans and some potato salad from the other day. He also brought home #4 in the Janet Oke “Love Comes Softly” series so I’ll watch that tonight.
This morning’s devotional talked about Jesus as The Great Physician and how many of us struggle with our thoughts about God, especially during illness. As I read from John 9, I substituted Clint’s name and it read:
As he went along, he saw a man with a brain tumor from birth. 2. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, Clint or his parents that he was born with this tumor?" "Neither Clint nor his parents sinned," said Jesus, "but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in Clint’s life.
While Jesus did not heal Clint as He did the blind man in this Bible passage, it is no less true that the work of God was displayed in his life and his life touched many people.
