I managed to get in a couple of movies before bedtime last night. The second one, “The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio,” was quite a movie. It was the true story of a woman who raised 10 kids by winning thousands of dollars in “jingle contests.”
I woke before my alarm went off at 7:30, got up and had my coffee while checking email for orders, etc. Took care of my stuff and ate something while Bill got finished in the bathroom. We left about nine and it was raining by time we arrived at the hospital. I dropped Bill off and searched for a parking space. I found the last one in the lot for patients. They seem to have about twice as many parking places for staff as for patients.
The doctor was a little friendlier today than our first visit with her. She sent Bill for a chest x-ray and more lab work. We had to wait almost an hour for the labs to come back. Nothing much to report from that although some things were down from Friday. Based on what she told us, the labs were not “OK” on Friday. She had Bill show her what hurt and according to her, there isn’t anything there to hurt. OK….. Perhaps it is what they call “referred pain” where it hurts somewhere besides the sight of the problem. For instance, an inflamed gall bladder may refer the pain to the right shoulder. Go figure! So we left there not much smarter than when we arrived.
We drove over to Shibori Dragon where I met briefly with Deanna after she waited on several customers at the cash register. Then we moved on to The Black Angus for lunch. Bill ordered their steak soup to begin with and gobbled it down since he didn’t eat before we left this morning. We both ordered the top sirloin which came with lovely steamed veggies. He had rice pilaf with his and I had a baked potato. I topped my steak with onions and mushroom. Everything was yummy and we both brought home enough for another meal, so I shouldn’t have done too much damage as far as my diet.
On the way to Dick’s house, we went by to visit Clint. I need to take something along next time so I can edge around his marker. And I have to either find the winter bouquet I had from last year or get a new one to go in his vase now that we can use artificial flowers till next April. As for Dick, he has a big dog and it didn’t take long to get to my nose. Then we went to Patti’s where I dropped off her waffle weave towels, and then on to Grace’s where I delivered towels, thread and a book. Kathy was still there. Ellie and Patti and had come and gone. I was supposed to join them there for lunch today after Sew Fun. Remember what I wrote recently: If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans. That obviously applied to the plans for today, made some time ago!
We crossed the Narrows Bridge and made our way to the bank and then the grocery store. I had to restock some of my dieting supplies. I got a couple of the Healthy Choice Café Steamers and look forward to trying them out. We headed back to Key Peninsula and into Key Center. Bill had called Gaye to get his hair cut so I dropped him off while I went over to the library. I got three more movies to add to my stash and got back to Gaye’s just as she finished with Bill.
By time we got home, unloaded the car and settled in it was six o’clock. My scarf had grown to 30.5 inches leaving 16.5 inches to knit if I have that much yarn. So here I am and it is going on nine o’clock. I’ve attempted to return a couple of phone calls. I checked with Patti to make sure she found her towels since I had to leave them on her front porch. I hope we are all able to get together at Ellie’s on the 29th.
The next time you get frustrated with God because He isn't moving fast enough for you or because it seems He isn't moving at all, take a look back over your life. Look for situations similar to your present one. In retrospect, it's easy to see how God was working the whole time in that situation, isn't it? He's doing the same thing now. So relax. God is giving you patience… and He is giving it to you now. – Take A Minute
