Today was almost a repeat of yesterday as far as embroidering was concerned. I moved along to Plan 3 which was actually my first idea for a birthday gift before I leapt off into the hummingbird sun catcher and bowl. I will put the bowl on hold and do it for Christmas. Anyway, today’s “plan” was to do a wall hanging or maybe a pillow with “Amazing Grace.” I hooped my fabric and stabilizer and off I went. It took almost an hour to stitch out the music because there little areas in the design I had to jump over to keep from having knots in the middle of nowhere.
I finally got to the second color - the leaves. I pulled a spool of thread out of my Madeira Treasure Chest, threaded the machine and off I went. I got into the second set of leaves and the thread ran out. After sitting here yesterday making sure I had all the thread I needed for the hummingbird bowl, I sat here this morning and started stitching without giving a single thought to the amount of thread I needed. And it wasn’t like I didn’t have a bunch of other greens in my stash! What to do? I could wait until I go into Tacoma on Monday and pick up a new spool of thread at Quality Sewing, but I want to give this to Sonya this weekend since her birthday is next Tuesday. I could rip it out. Nah… life is too short! So I hooped up another piece of fabric and stabilizer and started over. I forgot to put my second piece of stabilizer underneath so I hope it will be ok when I finish.
Will I was doing all this, I heard Bill banging around and muttering out in the living room. In response to one loud expletive I went out to see what was going on. Bill was replacing the front door lock with one of those dead bolts that need a key on the inside as well. Whatever lock was in the door at that moment was stuck and wouldn’t budge and he couldn’t open the door. I decided I best slink back to my room and keep my thoughts to myself. A little while later he called me to come out and I helped him with the final stage and now we have that to use since we have glass in the front door and alongside the front door.
Somewhere in the middle of all this I showered and dressed for our outing later this afternoon. Bill finally got into the shower at 2:30 and we got out of here a little after 3:30. We drove to Port Orchard and Bill stopped at Farmer George’s where he bought some elk summer sausage for us and some to give to his friend Dick. Then we stopped at Joann Fabrics so I could run in and collect the sports elastic I called and had them hold for me. It was a little after 4:30 when we finally made it to Gino’s for dinner.
I had eaten very little during the day to save up my points for dinner. Eating out before weigh-in day probably isn’t the smartest idea, but our coupon isn’t good Friday or Saturday. We started off by sharing a Seafood Cocktail - Dungeness Crab, Bay Shrimp & Prawns with Orange & Lime Segments, Mangoes, Cilantro & Lime Juice. That was quite tasty. Then came a Caesar Salad and Ginger Carrot Soup which we split. The soup was quite interesting but tasted more peanuty than anything else and we learned it did, indeed, have peanuts in it. I suggested they let folks know this since there are those who are deathly allergic to peanuts! My entrée was Veal Saltimbocca - topped with Goat Cheese, Roasted Garlic, Toasted Pecans and prosciutto in a Marsala Sauce. Bill chose Veal Caricciosa -sautéed with Artichoke Hearts, Kalamata Olives, Roasted Red Peppers in a White Wine Caper Sauce. I succeeded in passing up dessert.
We made a quick dash into the grocery store and then made it home safe and sound before dark. I noted that once again when we left today I had that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach. I guess it will take some time before we can both leave without me feeling that. I know that after the earthquake hit here several years ago Bill told me it sounded like a jet plane about to crash into the house. I was in town and I think the epicenter was closer to our house than where I was. At anyrate, it took about six months before I stopped thinking earthquake every time I heard a plane.
It is early so I think I’ll see if the Netflix movie I got yesterday is any good. Oh yes, I checked my blood pressure before I went to bed last night at Bill’s request. It was 88/49 with a 68 pulse. I guess it is safe to say I’m not going to die from high blood pressure!
Help me to walk so close to Thee
That those who know me best can see
I live as godly as I pray,
And Christ is real from day to day. —Ryberg
