I woke up at 6:30 this morning, a day when I could have slept longer. Isn’t that always the way? I left a little after nine and went to the Lady’s Bible Study at church. I left there at 10:45 to make it to Silverdale for lunch at Applebee’s with Judy and Verna from the jacket class. They have a great Weight Watcher’s menu. It’s a good thing I don’t live near one or I’d be there every night for a nice dinner! I had the Steak and Portabellas and that was 7 points. Judy and I split a chocolate raspberry layer cake which added 2 points to my lunch menu. The food was great!
We were busy in class. Nadine was the only one who wasn’t there. We trimmed our blocks and sewed them together. I sewed three and three and Judy realized they were not mirrored, so I will have to rip one set out and redo. So what else is new? The rest of class was spent drawing off our patterns and then cutting out the pieces. For some reason, I didn’t have enough material to cut my last sleeve without sewing the pieces together in the middle. Since we have a design going down the sleeve that is no big deal, but I had 3 yards of fabric when the pattern only called for 2 3/4 yards and it didn’t fit! I hope I don’t run into that problem when I cut out the lining! Judy loaned me the pattern and the jacket so that Nadine can get her pieces cut out and catch up before the next class if she is able. Our “homework” is to cut the lining and then serge the main fabric and lining fabric for the back and two fronts.
Wanda is going to roll on the floor laughing when she reads that I visited Joann Fabrics this afternoon and bought fabric for another jacket.
I found a satin lining that I just loved so then I traipsed around trying to find a main fabric and pieces to go with it. I can assure you I will NOT be doing anymore flying geese. Now that I know we are using 5” finished square blocks, I want to do something where I embroider or fussy cut fabric for the middle of a block and put a border on it. I also bought 3 yards of a pretty piece of fashion denim that was on sale. We’ll see what I find to do with that. They also had a pink sweatshirt in Reign’s size so I bought that so I can embroider the “It Isn’t Easy Being a Princess” on it for her.
It was after six by time I got home so it was a long day. My feet hurt but I still felt stuffed from lunch. I did eventually have a bowl of miso soup, and I’m going to have a celery stick with a Laughing Cow cheese in a bit. Tomorrow I need to get to work on a birthday gift for my prayer sister Sonya. Her birthday is September 25 and I’ll see her at the Women’s Retreat on Saturday so I need to have it done by then. Hope I have everything I need to create something for her.
And that wraps up another fun-filled day!
The Bible, O Lord, is just like a mirror
That shows me the need of my heart,
For in it I see an accurate image,
A portrait of me—every part. —Hess
