I was soooo cold when I went to bed last night I thought I would never get warm. I turned on the electric blanket but my hands were still freezing. I finally got up, located my wool fingerless gloves and put them on. I can only guess that my blood pressure must have been down for me to be THAT cold, but I didn’t want to scramble around for the blood pressure cuff at one in the morning! Having consumed a goodly amount of water before going to bed, I was up and down all night long. Not a good idea.
I got up a seven this morning and by 9:30 I was working on my blocks for the jacket class tomorrow. It was just before noon by time I wrapped up that project. Then I got to work embroidering on the baby sweaters I knit last week. I’ll have pictures of them later. The girl sweater went off without a hitch. The boy sweater was a different story. I got a bit stitched out and then something messed up with the bobbin and I had to rip all that out and start over. Again, it didn’t want to work right so I opened up the bobbin case, cleaned out some threads and dust and then it worked fine. However, at one point I put the wrong color thread and didn’t notice until it was half way stitched out. So I got to rip out one more time! I finally finished that a little after six.
I’ve been listening to an audio book by Edna Buchanan. First time I’ve “read” her work. She has a character named Britt Montero who is police reporter. This was her latest book called “Love Kills.” It kept me going and had a surprise ending. I’m also reading “Milk Glass Moon,” the third book in the Big Stone Gap novels by Adriana Trigiani. I think this catches me up with all her books in this series since I read the newest one first. I have to finish this one up now as the last Amanda Pepper mystery arrived from the library today. That is by Judy Gilly with whom I correspond from time to time.
When I came out to the front room I discovered Bill had cooked some lamb so I had some of that with spinach for dinner. I’m going to try to skip the ice cream tonight. Just saying that makes me want some. Sigh… Mind over matter does NOT always work! That said, I’m off to sew up the two sweaters, but I want you to see the picture of little Ronaldo that came in today’s mail. He is in first grade now and such a cutie! He likes to play soccer and at this moment in life he wants to be a policeman when he grows up.

In the midst of the turmoil of life, when we think all we want is to be left alone, Jesus extends His nail-scarred hand and invites us to be His friends. He says, “I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you” (John 15:15). We have a choice: to keep to ourselves, or to open our heart to a friendship of unlimited love and guidance – Joe Stowell
What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer. —Scriven
Jesus longs to be your Friend.
