I went into the kitchen about 10:30 last night to get some ice cream and as I came out of the kitchen I glanced out the front door and saw flames shooting up next door. I ran to the door and looked and it seemed that there was a big fire in the back yard next door. I went back and got Bill out of bed and when he called next door, he was told they had a “little bonfire.” Little bonfire, indeed! The flames appeared to be shooting as high as the roof of their house when I first saw them! Idiocy abounds!!! By time I finished my ice cream, the fire seemed under control. Sheesh! I was in the middle of a heartwarming tearjerker movie called “Though None Go with Me” when all this happen. I wrapped that up about midnight and headed for bed.
By 7:30 this morning I was up and going again. I finished a hat last night. That’s only four since I went to the KGPS meeting last month (Knitting Guild of Puget Sound). Their newsletter arrived yesterday and it seems that last month the group donated 130 hats to Caring for Kids which was 31 above the 99 I hauled in. Needless to say, I now have “other fish to fry,” so the hats will be fewer and father between. I really want to get the thermal blanket finished now.
I stitched out a couple of kitchen towels for Dawn’s birthday which is coming up September 12. This was a test run for the embroidery machine since getting it back. I found one little problem but it is mostly just annoying. It was after eight by time I came out for some dinner. I haven’t felt great today so haven’t been very hungry. I made a spinach salad with shrimp and while I was eating, I looked up the current info on Weight Watchers. I took the plunge and rejoined online. I’ve got to get control of my weight so I decided there was no time like the present to get started. I get 22 points a day to begin with. I put in everything I’ve eaten today and it only came to 9 points. So I’m off to add 4 point with some Huckleberry ice cream.
God gives us gifts to help each other, but self-sufficiency shuts the door on much-needed help. Let’s be open to the helping hand He provides. – Dennis Fisher
The first step in getting help is humility.
