Here I sit overlooking beautiful Lake Cavanaugh about two hours north of our house. The sun is shining. A light breeze is blowing. If I could see Mt. Rainier in the background it would be the perfect spot. We picked Trudy up at 11:30 yesterday morning and headed for The Black Angus in Federal Way. We were supposed to meet Midge, a former neighbor from their years of living in Tacoma after World War II. Bill decided to take Hwy 99 for "nostalgia," and we wound up stopped at every traffic light from Tacoma to Federal way. We were 15 minutes late but Midge was 35 minutes late so it all worked out. Trudy and Midge had a nice visit and then we took off for Doug and Claudia's.
It was a little after four by time we got here. Since our arrival we've caught up on news. I haven't seen Claudia in a couple of years. They spend six months in Hawaii every year and I was gone last summer so we never came up this way. Claudia had made some crab ravioli for dinner. We added the Chinese duck that Bill got on the way through Seattle. Yum, Yum.... We won't talk about the white chocolate torte and tiramisu cake for "birthday cake" for Trudy.
Claudia's mother lives with them so that left the loft for me, Bill and Trudy to sleep in. We gave Trudy the bed and Bill and I took the sofa bed. The only problem with that was the fact that the sofa bed tends to cave in towards the middle. I think I spent most of the night trying not to roll into the middle of the bed and crash into Bill. My back was sore before I got into bed, and I wasn't real sure I would be able to crawl out of bed this morning but since I'm here, it is apparent I succeeded in doing so.
Claudia and I got online after brunch and booked Trudy into a hotel near the airport where Bill and I can drop her Tuesday evening on our way home. She has to be at the airport about 7 a.m. Wednesday morning and she'll be able to take a shuttle from the hotel to the airport.
I started knitting my shrug Friday night and it knits up quickly on the size 11 needles. I only have about four inches left to finish it. Hopefully the gauge is right and it will be the correct size when I'm done. It is not impossible that I could have to frog it and start over, but time will tell.
Guess I better rejoin the others. As expected, I cannot get onto the internet with my computer. I am using Claudia's and I had forgotten how SLOW dial up can be!
