I was actually in bed by eleven last night – almost unheard of for me anymore. Then I read and dozed for awhile before I turned my reading light off at? And slept till 8:30. I took care of business and then chatted on the phone. Nadine and I are signed up for a Quilted Sweatshirt Jacket class on Sept 11 in Silverdale. That should be fun.
11:30 finally started on quilt top. By 12:30 I had sewed one seam. Decided to actually read info in quilting book. What a novel concept? It said to use a straight stitch throat plate so that there is less area for the machine to "grab" fabric. If you sew, you know that the standard throat plate has an oval opening which can grab a nice little wad of fabric when you start and stop the machine. Miracle of miracles, I actually found mine. While I had that off, I got rid of some dust in the bobbin case. Hopefully I will remember to change back to the standard throat plate before attempting to zig zag on the sewing machine!!!
I was ready to go again by 12:25, but my stomach had been growling for an hour. I realized I never ate anything this morning so figured I needed sustenance for the task at hand. I was ready to start in again by 1:06 after a light lunch of miso soup with wheat crackers, cream cheese and smoked salmon.
It was seven by time I finished the quilt top. I took it in to show Bill and his reaction was “Wow! That really looks great.” Of course. What else did he expect??? I don’t think when he looked at the “pieces” he expected it to turn out as nice as it is going to. Sheesh….
I talked to Ellie tonight. George seems to be doing well. That is good. She is not going to work at Vi’s alterations shop anymore. Says she needs to be home with George. And that is probably true for now. I guess they are talking about selling their 5th wheeler and buying a motor home so they can travel. I wish them well with that.
I’m off to entertain myself till bedtime. I have a couple of movies if they are any good.
We who love Jesus are walking by faith,
Not seeing one step that’s ahead;
Not doubting one moment what our lot may be,
But looking to Jesus instead. —Fields
