I simply can NOT get myself to bed early on a Saturday night just because I have to get up at 6:30 on Sunday morning when I have to play for church. It was 1:30 or later when I got into bed, and then I woke at 5:30 and dozed till the alarm went off. Church went fine – if you overlook the time in second service when I stood up to move off the platform and hit a key on the piano in the midst of a wall of silence. Of course, there were snickers in the congregation, so I faced them and gave a slight bow which provoked more snickers.
When I got home we debated going out for something to eat midafternoon in time to stop back to church for me to play tonight. We finally decided against that so I took a break from the cross stitching and knit on a hat. Then I pulled out the Serenity Prayer fabric and cogitated on how to turn it into a quilt. I got REALLY sleepy in the middle of that, so I probably need to double check stuff before I got buy my fabrics.
I grabbed a bite to eat before dressing and heading back to church. We had a young fellow from our church who is going out as a missionary to Indonesia as the speaker tonight. Sadly, out of a church of 300-400 attendees on a Sunday morning (although not that during the summer) there were 17 folks there tonight. When you eliminated the five who were there to run the service and the missionary’s family, there were four older ladies and that was it. Pitiful….
I have now been officially invited by two of the church ladies to attend their Missionary Support Team meetings on the second Thursday of each month. They have a salad luncheon, a speaker and then prayer time. I put it on my calendar for next month.
That’s a wrap for today. I have the “Miss Potter” movie here to watch. It is based on the life of Beatrix Potter. Grandma Robin saw it and said it was great.
Take inventory of some of the gifts God has given you. Ask Him how you can use those gifts for Him. Let’s pray that one day we’ll all hear Him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!” – Eric Elder
