It was 1:30 before I got to bed this morning and then I woke at 5:30 with my nose going bonkers. I got up, took an allergy pill and went back to sleep till 9:15. As I got out of bed I set the alarm for tomorrow morning. No big adventures today. I finished up my Bible study for tomorrow, then we watched a movie called “The Fighting Temptations” while I started a knit hat for Deanna per her request. Nadine called while Bill was out on the day’s errands. She commented on how stuffed up I sounded. She called back a little later and asked if I wanted to try her old air filter. I said I would certainly give it a try and see if it helps.
She came over later and we had a nice visit. Bill took off again so Nadine and I had a cup of tea while we chatted. I showed her my various “works in progress.” On her way out she commented on some of the pictures on what I call “Bill’s wall.” He was back by then and told her about the different pictures and their significance. I walked her out to the car and then came back in and set about putting in a new filter in the air filter. Since there were no instructions, it took a bit before we figured out how to get the top off. I even looked for a manual online but it is a discontinued model so there was no manual to be found. I finally realized that the handle on the top unscrews and then I got it taken care of. It is sitting in the corner on the other side of the table from where I’m writing.
The shrug pattern came in the mail today so I’m anxious to start on it. However, I want to finish this cross stitch bear first. I finished the shirt last night and started on the bear, the last part I have left to stitch. But I haven’t worked on it much today so I didn’t get as far along with it as I had hoped.
I cooked – ok, I overcooked – a pork tenderloin for dinner tonight. I was busy sautéing mushrooms and onions to go with it and let it cook too long. Guess that’s what happens when I actually cook dinner two nights in a row!
So I’m off to stitch, stitch, stitch until bedtime. I can feel a cool breeze on my knees coming off that air filter. I guess I thought it was supposed to sucking dust in not blowing cool air out – not that I really know how these things work.
God is pleased when we make the effort to remain in relationships with the people He plants in our lives. He can use even small, infrequent contacts for good. Sometimes we may never know how much our efforts matter. – Days of Tips and Inspiration for Quilters
