I woke when Bill got up at 7:30 and thought I’d stay in bed till the coffee was done. Next thing I knew it was almost nine o’clock. I worked on last minute odds and ends for Madrona today. This afternoon I went to the back and knit one of the 8x8 inch swatches on the machine that I need for one class. Then I decided I would watch a movie while hand knitting the other swatch. I was ready for a break of sorts. The movie was another in the Inspector Lynley series called “In the Guise of Death.” I took the movie that wouldn’t work in this computer and tried it in the other computer. It still wouldn’t work. I asked Bill to try it on the TV and it works so I’ll have to watch it on there.
When I was done with the movie I heated up some of the collards Bill cooked the other day under the tutelage. Just as I sat down to eat them I thought how nice some cornbread would have tasted with it. I got up and put some on to cook and had it for dessert.
I left shortly after six and went to Cost Less drug store to exchange the last jar of mineral powdered make up I bought. It opened up in the wrong place and dumped a lot of the powder out. I also got some graph paper for one of my classes. However, it was 5 squares to an inch and that may be too big for what we are doing – whatever that is. I wrote the teacher and asked. I also bought a notebook so I can take some notes in the classes.
When I got to church, the foyer was all set up for the picture taking. Bill and I get ours done at 1:50 tomorrow. Since there is a baptism after church on Sunday, the baptismal pool was on the stage so the music team was all squished together. I told Larry I was getting dangerously too close to him! Every time we have to rearrange things it totally changes the sound of the group so it took some doing to get that sorted out. I got home just after nine and immediately called Beth for an update. I talked to her just after noon and all was going well. All I got was the answering machine. I sent a text message but as of 10:10 p.m. I’ve had no response. I hope all is well there!
Larry told us tonight about one of his co-worker’s grandsons who is in the hospital. He is just a young thing with heart problems since birth. They were doing some sort of transplant and his chest has been laid open for a week or more and his heart hasn’t beat on it’s own in all that time. The family has been called in more than once when they didn’t think he was going to make it. We prayed for little Evan tonight. How do you explain to a family who doesn’t believe in God that God is in control and has a plan for their precious little Evan? Anyway, my heart certainly goes out to the family.
Doris told me that one of her friends went home after visiting her (in Thunder Bay, Ontario) and upon arrival learned that the "New Year's baby" in their area, a little girl born to the new 24-year-old unmarried town librarian, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis. How sad. I can remember one time when Clint was in the hospital he had a room mate with that. It is an awful disease. Every so often they would beat on the boy’s back to clear out the congestion in the lungs.
And on that less than cheery note I guess I’ll go finish my second swatch.
If we are honest, we must admit that much of our time is spent pretending. But when we turn to God in prayer, we must present our real selves, candidly acknowledging our strengths and weaknesses and our total dependence on him. - Unknown
