I was in bed by 10:15 last night. I was exhausted by the events of the day on top of just getting home from the retreat on Sunday. I didn’t get up until 8:30 this morning and then I got to work on orders that came in over the weekend. Then Bill asked if I wanted to go into Tacoma and pick up my boots that got left at the hotel. Having no idea how long they would hold them, and not wanting them to go missing, I figured we better make the trip. I had a one o’clock chiropractor appointment so we left here at 10:45, fifteen minutes later than we planned. We got the hotel where I retrieved the boots and then we went to The Kabuki for lunch. By time we got there, we only had 45 minutes to order, be served, eat and leave. Naturally, it took us an extra five plus minutes to get out of there and we headed for Key Center. As one o’clock approached I called and told them I was five minutes out and we arrived eight minutes late. I told Dr. Dave that I had been doing pretty well but he got more cracks out of my back than ever before! I came home and took some Ibuprofen and nothing hurts tonight as happens sometimes after a visit.
After that we went to Barbara’s and picked up my bag of dirty laundry from the trip. We missed getting it out of the van in the dark Sunday night. I had more work to do on completing today’s orders so took care of that once we got home again. I talked to Nancy tonight to see how she is doing. She is in her fourth week of the radiation and while it seems to have helped, it is making her quite sick. They gave her medicine but she seems to think she isn’t supposed to take it until she gets sick. I told her she needs to take it every day before she goes.
The day is flying by and I have yet to do the homework for tomorrow’s Bible Study. That being the case, I think I’ll wait and write about Madrona tomorrow when I’m not in a rush. I don’t want to be up real late tonight since I need to leave by 8:30 in the morning.
A smile costs nothing but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor that he cannot be made rich by it. A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business and is the countersign of friendship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and is nature’s best antidote for trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away. Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give. - Unknown
