I woke at seven to a light dusting of snow. When I glanced out the window at eight snow was lightly falling. By 10:45 it was coming down in bigger flakes! At 12:40 it was falling harder and heavier! One or more squirrels were out. I saw one dash across the yard over on the other side of the garage. Bill saw one outside the front door looking for one of his buried nuts. It took some digging but the squirrel finally found one and darted around to the back of the house. According to the weatherman, “The snow was due to a warm front moving in from an offshore storm. In the meantime, the upper air flow has been from the northwest, bringing in some cool air from the Gulf of Alaska. That cold air is just cold enough that the moisture from the warm front was falling in the form of snow.” Yippeee dooo….
I talked to Myra about one after hearing that Shelton had four inches of snow. She only had 1.5 inches at her house and was outside dying yarn in the snow! She emailed later to say that her order of “my” books didn’t arrive. She is completely sold out so asked me to bring my copy to display in her booth so she can take orders. She is soooo lucky that I could actually lay my hands on it! So it is packed, along with pretty much everything else that I’m taking.
Barbara had to go back to the dentist today since she lost the temporary filling he put in yesterday. He also did a crown and as he went to set it in place, he dropped it into her mouth and she came close to swallowing it! I asked Bill to call Beth around 10-10:30 this morning. He got the answering machine at the apartment again so he tried the cell phone. Beth told him they were on the way to the hospital with Bill who woke around 2:30 this morning with mind numbing muscle spasms in his back. As he screamed in pain they found the narcotics from the hospital and knocked him out for the rest of the night. When he got up this morning they headed for the hospital. Thankfully it wasn’t anything to do with his heart or lungs, just a muscle spasm. I guess this is the same thing he had a couple of days ago when she mentioned he was having chest pains.
Jeremy called tonight to say that they have found a house. I guess it isn’t totally a done deal yet. Turns out it was the second house I wrote him about last night – a big five bedroom home about 20 minutes from Fort Lewis. It is in a gated community and has a fenced in back yard for the kids. It has three bathrooms, a three car garage, a family room with hardwood flooring and a fire place, and a large living room. Sounds just perfect for them so I sure hope it works out.
I’m reading a book by Dr. Sanford Siegal called “Is Your Thyroid Making You Fat?” I was surprised by two of the symptoms of low thyroid he mentioned – a lower than normal body temperature and elevated cholesterol – both of which I have. I checked and my temperature was 97.2°. I have numerous other things on the long list he gave earlier in the book. All this despite being on a low does of thyroid medicine. I’m eager to see what else he has to say. The book includes his “28-Day Diet that Tests Your Metabolism as You Lose Weight.” Time will tell…..
I'm off to Madrona tomorrow so I'll write as I'm able.
I love Thee, because Thou hast first loved me,
And purchased my pardon on Calvary’s tree;
I love Thee for wearing the thorns on Thy brow;
If ever I loved Thee, my Jesus, ’tis now. —Featherstone
