Much of our area is under flood watch at the moment. I don’t think the rain has let up for one minute since yesterday. There are oodles of evacuations taking place as rivers rise to flood level. Amtrak has suspended train service between Portland and Seattle from Thursday through Saturday due to mudslides. One woman was sitting in her living room by a nice fire with her dogs on her lap and next thing her house slid down the hill and hit her son’s car. The town of Orting is expected to go under water. Sections of I-5 are closed or soon will be. The town of Morton is cut off by flooding. This on top of all the recent snow. We are safe from flooding at our house. Hopefully we are equally safe from sliding down the hill. While I was hearing all that news I was on Messenger with Peg in Boulder, Colorado, where a downed power line had sparked a grass fire. She could see the flames from her home five miles away. As of 8 o’clock tonight over 11,000 homes have been evacuated and the uncontained fire has covered 14 square miles. Peg went offline a couple of hours ago. I hope and pray they aren’t in the path of the fire!
I was up and off to Bible Study today. It was nice to see everyone again. I passed around a signup sheet for anyone who might be interested in a knitting and crochet “do.” Discussing it with some of the gals after Bible Study, we thought that we could bring a sack lunch one Wednesday a month and have the “do.” Anyone else who wants to join us could bring their lunch and arrive at the appropriate time so as not to interrupt the end of Bible Study. Some who signed up want to learn how to knit or crochet and I said they could do charity things or their own projects. It seems that I have to get this set up under the Women’s Ministries so I called Kendra, head of that, when I got home. The leadership team meets tomorrow so she will present it to them and we’ll go from there.
Bill was talking to Dawn when I got home today. I talked with her and she said that Reign really likes her fleece blanket. I told her I had no idea it was so huge because when I did the embroidery on it, I only unfolded enough to hoop and sew. Then I opened it more so I could fold it to fit the box for mailing and realized how big it was. Dawn said Reign loves it because she can totally bundle up in it. Reign’s ballet recital is rescheduled for this Saturday but we aren’t able to go up then. Oh well….. She asked about us coming up for Bill’s February 1 birthday so we’ll see what happens with that.
I’m not sure what I want to do now. I’m almost done with the bottom ribbing on the Kyler cardigan and then it is on to the front bands. That takes some figuring to see how many buttons I want and need to find the buttons I want to use before I know how big to make the holes. So that will probably wait until tomorrow.
Have you come to know the Christ in whom all fullness dwells? Or do you live as a pauper, largely dependent on the world for your joy? It is God’s will that Christ should fill all things, including your heart and its needs! Allow the Holy Spirit to imprint deeply upon your heart the words of the text in all its fullness. - Andrew Murray in Daily in His Presence
