At just past midnight I finally got the B&O taxes sorted out! All day I muttered over the fact that I had two figures for the gross income. I got one figure when I asked for total customer sales and another when I did the sales tax liability. At some point late last night I happened to glance at the upper left hand corner and saw “Accrual Basis.” As soon as I changed that to “Cash Basis” the two figures matched and I was able to complete the tax form. I refrained from hitting the “submit” button until I could look over everything again this morning with a less fuzzy brain.
It seems we had a 4.5 earthquake at 5:25 yesterday morning. If there were any tremors here we slept through them. I recall being in bed back in my college days at U of Puget Sound when a quake hit and the bed shook. In fact, that was the first time I ever felt a quake. This one was from the same general source as the 6.8 magnitude Nisqually earthquake on Feb. 28, 2001. It was 36.2 miles deep so you don’t get the catastrophic damage like you do with ones that are shallower. I can do without earthquakes!
Beth told me yesterday that Jason was at the apartment and say police and news choppers. I finally found what that was all about. Police said the driver of one vehicle in the three car crash was speeding recklessly, weaving in and out of traffic and struck two other vehicles. Neither of those drivers was seriously hurt. The speeding vehicle, a Toyota SUV, then crossed the center line and hit a Honda SUV head-on, injuring two women in the Honda. One woman went to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Firefighters had to tear the roof off two cars to free people inside. So that is what was going on outside their apartment yesterday afternoon!
At 10:20 this morning I hit the “Submit” button on the B&O taxes. Then I did the next row of increases on the sweater. I’m using a 29 inch long needle. I have to increase to 364 stitches so I asked Barbara if she has a 36 inch needle. She will bring it tomorrow.
We got the Key Peninsula News today. Getting to be way too much excitement around here! “Thieves hit the Key Center state liquor store Christmas Eve or early Christmas morning.” They suspect kids because when they were unable to break the large front window, they broke the glass of in the front door and managed to squeeze through the bars. Only a very small person could have managed that! On January 12, a man walked into Costless Pharmacy at 4:30 in the afternoon. He approached the pharmacy counter, have the pharmacist a note that demanded she hand over all of the Oxycontin within 60 seconds and said he had a gun strapped to his leg. Witness got his license plate number and he has been arrested. Big city crime in the country!
I’m going to have to stop letting Bill go to the grocery store. He keeps buying more and more food before we can eat up what we have! I said something today when he came home with more. He said, “I like to go to the grocery store.” I told him to just look and not buy! Anyway, he brought home sole filets which I cooked tonight. We could have easily fed 4-5 people. Sigh….
I have five inches knit on the yoke of the sweater. With 260 stitches per row it takes awhile to get around. By time I get to 312 stitches it WILL take awhile to make it around. No wonder I don’t like doing adult sweaters. It takes forever! I did some more pictures for Bill this afternoon to send off to his veteran buddies. Beth said that Cousin Bill slept last night and seems much better today. Hopefully the confusion issues are past. Looks like he may get out of the hospital on Monday.
Now I’m off to watch a movie and knit.
