Foggy and Icy Out

     I watched a cute movie last night called “See Jane Date.”  Then it was off to bed.  I turned on the heat at 5:30 but was sound asleep again when the alarm sounded at 6:30.  It was very foggy out and icy.  I stayed on the main highway and as I crossed the Purdy Spit, the fog was so thick I couldn’t even see Purdy or the upcoming bridge.  Needless to say, both were still there.  
     When I got to church it was only 66° in the sanctuary.  As we practiced, my hands were so cold they hurt.  It gradually warmed up but it never did get as warm as it usually is in there.  During the first service Larry ended the pre-sermon music “set” one song short of done.  We wasted no time in harassing him about it between services.  I told him “That’s what happens when you turn 50.”  He informed me that I wasn’t the first one to say that.    Then when we went up for the second service I asked “Are we going to do the whole program this time.”  I have such fun with him!  
     I got home from church and Bill asked if I was interested in going to Massimo Italian Bar & Grill for lunch or dinner.  That is the new restaurant that opened recently replacing the Wings and Things or whatever the last one was.  It has undergone several changes since the original Pearls by the Sea closed several years ago.  I think this is #4.  It was still very foggy so the only view we had was fog instead of the usual water view.

  



     You can see the view we SHOULD have seen as we sat in the room where you see the bridge out the window.   I was sitting in the chair right in front of the fireplace with Bill across from me but all we could see was fog.  There was a fly fisherman out in the water fishing away in the frigid weather.  
     Of course we had to try their Minestrone Soup.  A cup was $3 and a bowl was $4 so Bill ordered the bowl.  We were expecting a cereal sized bowl to split and it came in a big serving size bowl.  It was ok but not near as good as what we get at The Pomodoro.  It didn’t have a speck of Italian sausage in it and minestrone isn’t minestrone to me without Italian sausage!  Bill’s entrée was Linguini Sorrento - mixed shellfish sautéed in a plum tomato sauce.  I chose Capellini Positano - black tiger prawns sautéed with artichokes, green onions and basil in a white wine garlic sauce.  It was very good.  I didn’t taste Bill’s but he tasted mine and said he liked it better.  He got a lot of seafood for the price.  I only got three prawns, but it was a lunch menu item so you don’t expect as much.  We both brought home enough for another meal plus soup.  
     It was three o’clock when we got back home.  I finished the hat I’ve been working on.  Everything now will go in the Madrona bin.  I was knitting at the restaurant (of course!) and the ladies at the next table asked me what I was crocheting.  I told them I was knitting a hat.  We spoke briefly and then they left.  Since we got home I started the next hat for when I need mindless knitting.  My goal now is the finish that Kyler cardigan and get it out of my sight.
