Wouldn’t that weather prediction be a welcome change! It was foggy this morning and that usually precedes sunshine but not today or at least not here. Bill left at 9:30 for his doctor appointment and to pick up my machine. Yippeee on both counts. Some “home alone” time is always nice and I’m ready to get to sewing and embroidering again!
Since I had to clear off the sewing cabinet for the return of my machine, I went in and moved the Janome back into its bag. Then I put up the serger figuring I could serge around the two fleece Snoopy blankets I’ve had cut out for a long time. I thought sure the last time I did these I only use two spools of wooly nylon for a blanket stitch edge. If I did, I certainly didn’t today. Even after I added a third spool the machine did NOT want to cooperate. Eventually I got it going and got the two blankets serged. That was over an hour gone.
The next chore was putting the snaps on the baby bibs that I finished before the machine had to be sent off. I’m sadly lacking in surface space to do anything these days. I have a small cushioned quilt blocker so I turned it over and put it on the floor and tried to work that. Well, that didn’t cut it. I finally shuffled some of the fabric around on the ironing board and worked there. By time that was done another hour had flown by.
The last thing I wanted to do was to finish the baby sweater. I knit the second sleeve and was in the middle of sewing up the sleeve and side seams when Bill arrived home from his doings of the day. He brought home various goodies so I stopped to see what those were. I unpacked the machine and got it set back up and ready to go tomorrow. Then I resumed sewing on the sweater. It was a little on the stiff side so I put it in with a load of wash. It came out still on the stiff side. I’ll steam it some tomorrow and see if that does anything. I suppose someone can use it regardless since they would be wearing it over something else.
When I finished the sweater I was ready for something to eat. One of the goodies Bill brought home was a couple of soft shell crabs. I cooked them up and devoured them quite handily. I still remember the day an old boy friend took me to a restaurant for lunch after I moved to Maryland. He ordered soft shell crabs and when I learned you ate the whole thing, shell and all, I told him “You gotta be kidding!” But now I love them!
“The Bachelor” will be starting soon so I’m off to watch that.
